Dave's ViewDespite the evidence to the contrary, we are not asleep at the wheel back here at Xcheque central.  Global dairy data keeps coming in and we faithfully plug it into our spreadsheets to see what is going on. It is however true that our online data and eccentric blog posts are in short supply. “The best laid plans of mice and men” … and all that. We will try to arrest the slide with this little snippet on milk production in Argentina.

Dave's ViewThis week Dr Hauser travels to India. He's on the trail of some astounding projections for milk production and dairy industry growth. Already the largest milk producer in the world, can India triple production in the next 10 years, and become a net exporter?

Dave's View

There was movement in Oceania milk price on both sides of the Tasman this week and dairy industry observers could easily be forgiven for wondering what was going on.  Murray Goulburn in Australia going up and Fonterra in New Zealand going down. Hot on the heels of last week’s blog, Dr Hauser has a go at explaining how it all works and demystifying the latest movements.

Dave's ViewDr Hauser’s last blog pointed to a delicate state of balance in the US dairy market with high feed prices and an ongoing battle for a common ground on milk price between farmers and dairy commodity buyers. This week he takes a look at the international dairy market and the likely effect of high feed prices in the US and elsewhere. The message is a positive one for Oceania dairy farmers

Dave's ViewIn a return to form Dr Hauser revisits the drivers of US milk production and in particular the link between the dollar margin over feed cost and production growth trends. 6 months on from his previous article, how has the US dairy industry responded to the tension between market demand and producer margins and profits?

Dr Hauser's view of the worldFollowers of our global dairy industry blogs, news, data and analysis will have been scratching their head in the past few months. When will we see more pearls of wisdom, provocative notions, and humorous tidbits from the Xcheque team? The wait is over. Here we are again trotting out all sorts of dairyalia for your amusement and edification

Dave's View

As we say here in Australia – it’s been a long time between drinks. The Xcheque team has been off solving other people’s problems for a while. As they also say, good things come to those who wait and so here we are back again with more pithy comment and analysis of the global dairy industry.

This week Dr Hauser starts an investigation of the drivers of industry change. US milk production and export growth is in the spotlight. His analysis reveals that US dairy exports are quietly gathering momentum and are a major factor in US milk production and US commodity pricing in the past 5 years.
