Xcheque takes stock

It has been just over a year since we launched our Xcheque 2.0 - this website that you now (hopefully) enjoy.  We thought it was timely to attend to have a family conference tropical north Queensland and take stock.

Going back to the starting point we felt our way into web development but didn't make much progress until Ric from Bendigo set us on the right track. This current site was launched in May 2009 and since then we've brought you news extracts and weekly bulletin and our wonderful charts (well we like them anyway).  The milk price calculator raised some international interest.  It is still something of an oddity but does show what can be done without too much effort.

Towards the end of 2009 we felt impelled to have something to say - starting our blog as well as Dave's rather unique view of the dairy industry. We may not be everybody's favourite commentator but we have been noticed.  We don't really take ourselves too seriously but do think there is a need for an alternative to the bland fodder spread by some of the processors, industry institutions, and the media.

Dave's design skills have come to the fore and the weekly bulletin and news extracts have now morphed into a new presentation style. This has been well received and we have had significant growth in site registrations over the last few months. The scene is set for Xcheque 3.0 and when we return from warmer climes that project will be high up on the agenda.

In 10 / 11 you can look forward to:

  • A better layout for the news pages
  • Broader coverage of news and industry views
  • A news archive and search capability
  • A significant expansion of our data library and a more intuitive interface
  • A continuation of our somewhat eccentric views and style

If you have any comments or suggestions feel free to get in touch with us.  This website is a journey and we are happy to look at interesting and useful ideas for presenting all things economic in the dairy industry.

Thanks for your support in 09/10
